In November and February, Year 5 children took to international travel via coach, ferry and train with passports at the ready. Full of excitement (and a few nerves), we travelled down to Dover to catch the ferry to Calais. For some of us, this was the first time we had ever been on a ferry; for some of us, this was the first time we had ever left England! Having arrived in France, we travelled just outside Paris to the wonderful Dream Castle Hotel – a 2 minute drive to Disneyland Paris. We checked in and had the most amazing, all-you-can eat buffet. Some of us tried foods that we had never done before – think snails! On our first full day in France, we travelled to the Walt Disney Studios Park to take on the Hollywood Tower, Avengers, Aladdin’s flying carpets and the fantastic Mickey show! We ate like royalty and screamed with joy when on the rollercoasters. The next day saw us visit Paris. What a fabulous city! We saw everything there is to see: we ascended the Eiffel Tower, we saw the Olympic Rings, we walked the streets up the Champs Elysees to the famous, ‘not-yellow’ McDonalds. By coach, we saw the Arc de Triomphe and experienced the round-about. We explored Paris further by boat along the River Seine. We saw Notre Dame from afar and the Eiffel Tower lit-up by night. A fantastic day in Paris! On the next day, we visited the main Disney Park – home to the famous Disney Castle! Here, we hit more rides: Buzz lightyear, Star Tours, Dumbo, Pirates of the Caribbean, rocket ride and the high-speed ride in the park, Hyperspace Mountain! It was a late night for us all as we stayed in the park for the exceptional firework display – unbelievable Disney magic! After all this fun, we headed back to England by coach and the Euro Tunnel loaded up with memories that will last a lifetime!
